ABOUT RIPWORLD

RIPWORLD is an electronic rock act that mixes the edge and noise of late-70s post-punk and 90s alt-rock with the production style and sensibilities of contemporary dance, hip-hop, and indie rock music. They tap into a wide pool of influences, such as David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, death grips, LCD Soundsystem, Swans, Frank Ocean, and Black Country, New Road .

After listening to the song “Schizophrenia” by Sonic Youth, lead singer and instrumentalist, Phoebe Rivera Davis, developed an obsession with recreating the song's raw emotion. So, with no knowledge in music theory, production, or even how to really play an instrument, they recorded what wound up becoming their first single “A HEAVEN OF HELL, A HELL OF HEAVEN.” In November of 2024, after a dream in which Liam Gallagher (Lead singer of Oasis) told them to do so, they released their debut album “FALLEN ANGELS,” the result of a year and a half of writing and recording in a cramped, messy room, using a guitar, a bass, a laptop, and a $20 karaoke microphone for vocals.

Over the years, they have developed their craft and live shows, Ripworld has developed themself as a unique and singular voice in Chicago's underground scene. they explore self destruction and the lasting effects of trauma through lush, experimental soundscapes that you can move to.
